Century Arms continues to expand its popular line-up of canik mete sfx polymer framed semi-auto pistols with the introduction of the METE series (pronounced Met-Ay) including the SFT and SFx models chambered in 9 mm. Based on the Canik TP series, these pistols incorporate enhancements based on consumer and engineering feedback.

They include an integrated flared mag-well, an angled rear sight for emergency one-handed operation, a redesigned beavertail, and an optics-ready slide. Each pistol ships with an 18-round and 20-round magazine along with a holster and several other accessories packed into a lockable hard case.

The Mete features a more ergonomic frame with an integrated flared magwell, a deep beavertail, an undercut trigger guard, and more aggressive texturing throughout.

The mete feels like a dream in hand. They have kept their short reset single-action trigger design with nickel-coated action components and ambidextrous handling so previous canik mete sfx owners will not have to worry about learning new controls.

The slide features front and rear slide serrations for positive manipulation in all weather conditions and a loaded chamber indicator so you can tell if your pistol is loaded in low light conditions.

The canik mete sfx TP9 SFX is a highly capable high-tech captivating full size 9 mm Luger semi-automatic. This striker-fired double-stack pistol accepts capacious 15, 18 and even 20-round magazines.

The gun has three standard colors: black, FDE and tungsten. The gun’s standout visual feature are the four oval lightening ports on each long bevel between the front sight and the ejection port. These reduce weight and reveal the black barrel underneath.

The gun’s barrel is 5.20” long, match-grade and nitrided for durability. Overall length is 8.29”, height 5.71” and width is 1.38” in order to accommodate the double-stack magazine(s). Even then, weight is only 28.81 ounces.

The first color is all matte-black. The FDE is all field dark earth across the slide, frame and integrated grip panels. All the smaller parts like the sights and various buttons and bolts are matte black. Tungsten is like the black model except the slide is an elegant steel gray tungsten color. Everything else on the tungsten is matte black.

Looking at the gun, you might think it’s from Germany, the Czech Republic or somewhere else in the middle of Europe. But, in fact, the canik mete sfx brand is from the Black Sea town of Samsun, Turkey, and the company name comes from the Samsun suburb where it is based.

TP9 SFX has a flat top beveled corner slide. It’s cut down for the front two thirds and has long lateral bevels on both sides connecting to vertical flanks. The aforementioned ports are on these bevels.

The Cerakoted slide has five diagonal grip serrations in front and twice as many in back. Both front and rear sights are dovetailed into the slide, and they’re both by Warren Design. The front one is a fiber optic sight and in back is a blackout metal target sight. And good news, the flat top deck also includes a fiber optic sight plate so you can install various red dot fiber optics.

The frame is fiber-reinforced polymer. The back has a docked beavertail. For safety, this design has a trigger safety lever and a firing pin block. There is also a loaded chamber indicator visible atop the slide. And the slide stop is ambidextrous.

This is a single-action gun. The nickel plated trigger is clean-breaking and lightweight. A three-slot Picatinny rail integrated into the frame graces the bottom of the recoil spring housing.

Moving back toward the grip, the trigger guard is a wide rounded corner rectangle with plenty of room for gloved fingers. There is a medium undercut at the back of the trigger guard while in front are horizontal serrations for intuitive feel. The magazine release is where you’d expect it at the back of the trigger guard. It’s a rounded corner rectangle shape, and it’s reversible for left-hand users.

The grip is textured on the flanks and ribbed in front and back. It comes with both a small and a large interchangeable backstrap giving each person the ability to fit it as closely as possible per their own preference.
